The day’s agenda includes a cabinet gathering at 10 a.m. in Quebec City, followed by Fréchette’s official rendezvous with Lieutenant-Governor Manon Jeannotte at 10:30 a.m. Under Quebec’s electoral rules, the premier must request the lieutenant-governor, who acts on behalf of the King, to dissolve the National Assembly to commence an election campaign. The election date is confirmed for Oct. 5.
