Tragic Weekend in Lambton County: Two Swimmers Found Dead

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Lambton County announced the recovery of two missing swimmers near Grand Bend on Saturday. One of the bodies belonged to a 66-year-old woman from London, Ont., last seen at a dock on Canal Street in Grand Bend the previous Friday. The woman’s body was located in the Ausable River on Saturday by the underwater search and recovery unit and the Lambton Marine Unit around 1:45 p.m. Another swimmer, a 36-year-old individual from Scarborough, Ont., was found deceased in Lake Huron at Pinery Provincial Park, after being reported missing at the beach around 3 p.m. The identity of the deceased swimmers has not been disclosed by the police. The search efforts involved the OPP’s aviation unit, joint rescue coordination centre, Sarnia Fire, and park wardens at the Pinery Provincial Park. These incidents occurred following a previous death earlier in the week at Pinery beach, situated on the southeast shore of Lake Huron, 60 kilometers northeast of Sarnia. Beachgoers discovered the body of a 28-year-old from Scarborough on Thursday after an extensive search lasting nearly 24 hours. The police have not released the identity of the individual found earlier in the week.
