A man from Yarmouth County faces five charges following the theft of an ambulance from St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish, N.S. The RCMP reported that the unoccupied ambulance was stolen around 4:15 p.m. The authorities tried to stop the vehicle twice before using a spike belt to deflate its tires on Highway 104. Despite the damage, the stolen ambulance kept moving until it stopped near New Glasgow at 5 p.m., leading to the driver’s arrest.
The 36-year-old suspect is accused of stealing a motor vehicle, operating a conveyance dangerously, driving with a suspended or revoked license, evading a peace officer, and breaching release conditions. The man remains in custody awaiting a court appearance.
