Rams’ Left Tackle Alaric Jackson Suspended

The NFL has suspended Los Angeles Rams’ starting left tackle Alaric Jackson for two games without pay after he struck Buffalo linebacker Bradley Chubb in the face following their Monday night game. Jackson, a Windsor, Ont., native, faces missing the upcoming matches against Arizona and Las Vegas, pending a potential appeal, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

The league labeled Jackson’s action as “an act of unsportsmanlike conduct” in a press release. The incident occurred after a verbal exchange between Jackson and Chubb post the Bills’ overtime triumph over the Rams at SoFi Stadium. Jackson approached Chubb during a jersey swap with another Bills player, leading to the altercation where he knocked off Chubb’s hat with a punch.

Teammates intervened to separate the two players, but Jackson found himself in trouble once more. This incident follows a previous arrest on June 9 for suspected felony domestic violence and a lawsuit in 2025 alleging unauthorized recording of sexual acts, resulting in a suspension for undisclosed personal conduct policy violation in 2024.

Jackson, a Canadian-American dual citizen, is a key player for the Rams and has been with the team for an extended period, winning a Super Bowl ring in 2022 as a backup lineman. He signed a lucrative three-year, $57 million US deal in 2025, solidifying his role as the team’s starting left tackle protecting quarterback Matthew Stafford’s blind side.

The Rams face a challenge in Jackson’s absence, lacking a proven backup for the crucial left tackle position. While David Quessenberry is listed as the backup, his limited recent playing time raises concerns. In past instances of Jackson’s absence, the Rams turned to DJ Humphries instead of Quessenberry, highlighting the team’s need for reliable depth in the offensive line. Rookie Keagen Trost, a potential backup, remains sidelined on injured reserve due to a hamstring issue.
