In a remarkable display of technology, a drone successfully rescued a man from dangerous floodwaters in Vietnam. Nguyen Van Hat, a farm worker, found himself stranded on an island in Dak Lak province as waters rapidly rose around him, prompting a swift rescue operation.
Video footage captured on a Friday morning showed a large drone hovering just above the turbulent floodwaters. Equipped with a life buoy attached to sturdy straps, the drone descended towards Nguyen, who clung onto the lifeline as the drone fought against the powerful current to pull him to safety.
Despite the challenges posed by the forceful floodwaters, the drone managed to lift Nguyen across the river to safety. The farm worker had become stranded on the island while working on a sandbar, surrounded by the surging river.
Local rescuers, including a fellow farmer with a drone, collaborated to secure Nguyen’s rescue. They attached a buoy to the drone and flew it over to where Nguyen was stranded.
Authorities, aware of Nguyen’s precarious situation, swiftly deployed the drone to bring him to safety as the river’s water level continued to rise. The rescue mission was successful, ensuring Nguyen’s well-being amid the ongoing flood crisis in Vietnam.
The devastating floods in Vietnam have claimed the lives of 90 individuals, with 12 people still reported missing. The country has been grappling with severe flooding following intense rainfall in late October, affecting numerous regions and triggering landslides.
In Dak Lak province, a 61-year-old farmer recounted how he and his wife were stranded atop their metal roof for two nights as floodwaters rose rapidly, leading to extensive destruction in their neighborhood. Despite the challenges, officials continue to monitor and respond to the ongoing flood situation in affected areas.
