Gas prices in Newfoundland and Labrador saw an increase of 8.2 cents per litre on Saturday, surpassing $2.15 per litre on the Avalon Peninsula for the first time in over four years. The Public Utilities Board implemented this adjustment as part of their daily price changes due to fluctuations in oil prices and tensions in the Middle East.
Unleaded fuel now costs $2.155 per litre on the Avalon Peninsula, exceeding $2.15 per litre for the first time since July 1, 2022, according to data released by the PUB. Gas prices vary between $2.16 and $2.31 in the rest of Newfoundland, and between $1.89 and $2.26 per litre in Labrador.
On Saturday, diesel prices rose by 11.1 cents per litre across the region, while furnace oil prices increased by nearly 9.6 cents per litre in Newfoundland. Stove oil users in Labrador will face a hike of almost 9.7 cents per litre following the recent adjustment.
All fuel types experienced price hikes on Saturday, with the next update from the PUB scheduled for Tuesday. Stay informed by downloading the free CBC News app for push alerts on CBC Newfoundland and Labrador, or subscribe to the daily headlines newsletter.
