A major railway crossing in Truro, N.S., which was shut down due to a derailment over the weekend, is anticipated to resume operations on Tuesday morning. Canadian National Railway confirmed that all 14 derailed railcars that obstructed the Queen Street crossing have been successfully repositioned and removed. Repair work is currently underway at the crossing, with expectations for it to be accessible to traffic by 5 a.m. on Tuesday. The incident, which occurred late Saturday, prompted CN crews and emergency responders to initiate recovery operations overnight. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or threats to public safety, as there were no leaks or fires resulting from the derailment. Three of the derailed cars contained residual hydrogen peroxide, but they were secured and posed no risk to public safety. The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.
