Two individuals are currently in critical condition at a hospital following a collision in southern Manitoba on Friday, according to RCMP reports. The incident occurred at the junction of Highway 23 and Highway 3 in the rural municipality of Roland around 5:40 p.m., as stated in a news release issued by the police on Monday.
The crash involved two SUVs, with an eastbound vehicle on Highway 3 being struck by a southbound SUV, causing the eastbound SUV to overturn into the southeast ditch due to the impact. The driver of the eastbound SUV, a 51-year-old woman from Morden, Manitoba, was airlifted to a hospital in Winnipeg via a STARS air ambulance. A 44-year-old male passenger from Winkler, Manitoba, also in the eastbound SUV, was transported to a Winnipeg hospital by ground ambulance, both individuals remaining in critical but stable condition, as per the news release.
On the other hand, the driver of the southbound SUV, a 55-year-old man from Texas, was unharmed in the collision, according to the RCMP. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
