An urgent search is underway following the fatal stabbing of a teenager in Birmingham, according to local authorities. Yassin Alama, 19, tragically lost his life in a violent incident. West Midlands Police are actively seeking 17-year-old Oumar Traore in connection with the incident.
A police statement revealed that Traore is wanted for questioning regarding the death of Alama, who was stabbed on Hutton Road around 5:20 pm the previous day. Despite efforts to apprehend Traore following the incident, public assistance is now sought to locate him.
Jenny Birch, a member of the police’s Homicide team, described the incident as a tragic street attack resulting in Alama’s death. The victim’s family is devastated, and authorities are providing support and seeking answers.
Authorities urged the public to report any sightings or information about Traore’s whereabouts without approaching him directly. West Midlands Police announced the implementation of Section 60 powers in specific areas of Birmingham to aid in the search for Traore.
These powers grant officers the authority to conduct stop and searches without requiring specific grounds. Additional police presence will be deployed in the area to reassure the community and address their concerns.
