Yukon MLAs Prepare for Fall Parliamentary Session

As temperatures drop, Yukon Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) are gearing up for discussions in the parliamentary session.

The fall sitting of the Yukon Legislative Assembly commences on Monday, with Premier Currie Dixon set to present budgetary documents, including a fall capital budget and a fiscal and economic overview later in the day.

While major energy and health infrastructure projects may not see significant progress yet, as Dixon is seeking federal assistance to fund these initiatives, he assured that updates on previously approved contingency spending of $100 million for emerging needs and unforeseen expenses will be provided during this session.

Additionally, Dixon mentioned that legislation relating to a firearms act will also be introduced this autumn.

The session’s end date remains undecided, but as per regulations, it will not extend beyond December 1st.
