Canada ended the 2026 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series on a high note by defeating Japan 20-10 in the final at the Takasaki event. This victory marked their second title of the season, following their win in Shanghai in May. The Canadian team, as the top seed, displayed dominance throughout the tournament. They swept Pool A, then proceeded to beat China 21-9 in the quarterfinals and Neftchi SOCAR 22-12 in the semifinals. Paige Crozon shined with 11 points and eight rebounds against China, while Merissah Russell contributed eight points in the semifinal match.
In the final showdown, Canada quickly seized control and maintained their lead, despite Japan’s late attempt at a comeback. The Canadians secured a convincing 20-10 win, clinching the championship in Takasaki. Russell was honored as the Takasaki MVP for her outstanding performance, leading the tournament in player value (45.3) and drives (12), and ranking second in total points (32) and highlights (17).
Although Canada’s triumph in the Women’s Series was a strong conclusion to their campaign, they will not progress to the Project Redwings Shanghai Final scheduled for September.
