Actor Selma Blair was arrested after a flight from Los Angeles to New York due to allegations of physical abuse towards two flight attendants, as confirmed by authorities on Monday. The incident occurred late Sunday night as the Delta Air Lines plane was stationed at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport, according to a statement from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. No immediate response was received from the airline regarding the situation.
Both Blair, aged 54, and one of the flight attendants were taken to a hospital for assessment, as stated by the port authority. The FBI is now conducting an investigation into the matter, with attempts to reach out to the FBI and state as well as federal prosecutors’ offices in New York for comments.
Efforts to obtain a statement from Blair’s publicist were unsuccessful at the time of reporting. However, a representative for Blair communicated to various media channels that she experienced a medical emergency that may have triggered the reported behavior.
Known for her roles in popular films like “Cruel Intentions” (1999), “Legally Blonde” (2001), and “Hellboy” (2004), Blair, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018, has actively supported disability rights in recent years. In 2023, she participated in an event at the White House alongside then-president Joe Biden to commemorate the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
