“Artistic Collaboration Transforms Wolfville Stationery”

The Town of Wolfville in Nova Scotia is collaborating with L’Arche Homefires to revamp its official stationery. Mayor Jodi MacKay shared that town council members attended an art show at L’Arche last year, a non-profit organization supporting adults with intellectual disabilities. Impressed by the talent showcased, MacKay proposed commissioning artwork for town cards to capture the essence of Wolfville.

The selected paintings, now on display at the town hall, have also been reproduced on greeting cards for council and staff use, with additional cards available for sale at L’Arche Homefires. Councilor Jennifer Ingham praised the project’s success, expressing admiration for the initiative.

Collaborating with L’Arche community members and staff, artists like Stephen Parkin, a recent painter, contributed to the project by creating a painting of the Wolfville Waterfront Park gazebo with staff member Gaga Ou Yang. Parkin expressed pride in sharing his artwork with the community. Ou Yang emphasized the honor of having the artists’ work shared by the town, highlighting the enriching experience of the project.

Artist Sharon Lloyd, also supported by L’Arche, valued the camaraderie with staff during the art project. She enjoys the creative process, particularly painting natural scenes alongside her friend Cameron Ross.

In summary, the collaboration between Wolfville and L’Arche Homefires has not only brought art into the community but has also fostered meaningful connections and showcased the talents of individuals supported by L’Arche.
