“EE Introduces Enhanced Scam Guard Service to Combat Mobile Scams”

EE has unveiled an upgraded version of its Scam Guard service to combat the increasing prevalence of scams targeting mobile users. The new service, available to all EE pay-monthly customers for £2 per month, aims to provide enhanced protection against cyber threats.

Since its initial launch in 2024, Scam Guard has already thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts. With the latest upgrade, EE anticipates doubling this figure in the next 12 months. The centerpiece of the enhanced Scam Guard is the AI Triple-Lock Protection, which comprises Safe Email, Safe SMS, and Safe Web features powered by Norton’s Genie AI engine.

Safe Email offers proactive scam protection for email accounts round the clock, while Safe SMS utilizes advanced AI to detect sophisticated scams in text messages, ensuring real-time protection for customers. Safe Web employs AI to safeguard users from online scams, blocking malicious websites before they can cause harm.

Additionally, the new Scam Guard upgrade introduces the Scam Assistant tool, enabling customers to upload screenshots of suspicious messages or websites for instant advice on their safety. Furthermore, Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring feature alert customers to any suspicious activity across their online presence.

Malcolm Cubitt, Director of Product, Mobile at EE, emphasized the importance of staying ahead of evolving fraud tactics. He highlighted EE’s commitment to enhancing cybersecurity measures by leveraging industry partnerships, network controls, and a dedicated team of security experts. The upgraded Scam Guard service reinforces EE’s dedication to providing customers with robust protection against cyber threats.
