An infertile couple faced distressing news when they discovered that the man had no sperm due to excessive gym training. Levi Delvin-Attille and Alicia Hughes Brown began trying to conceive after their engagement in August 2022.
Following six unsuccessful months of attempting to get pregnant, Alicia consulted her GP to explore potential health issues. Despite already having a 14-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, doctors initially believed fertility problems were unlikely for her.
Concerned, the couple decided to have Levi’s sperm analyzed, revealing in November 2023 that the 37-year-old suffered from azoospermia, a condition marked by a severe lack of sperm. Although offered IVF treatment, they declined due to Alicia’s age and existing child.
Disheartened by the diagnosis, they paused their baby plans to focus on organizing their dream wedding. However, a peculiar odor in coffee prompted Alicia to take a pregnancy test in March 2024.
To their astonishment, the test confirmed Alicia’s pregnancy at four weeks. Grateful for conceiving naturally, the couple attributed their success to reducing stress and concentrating on their wedding plans, which seemingly helped overcome their fertility hurdles.
Their son, Zen Delvin-Attille Hughes Brown, arrived on January 4, 2025, weighing 8lbs 5oz. Reflecting on the unexpected pregnancy, Alicia shared her disbelief and gratitude, emphasizing the positive impact of their mindset shift on achieving conception.
Levi, a professional HGV driver who had appeared on the 2023 series of SAS: Who Dares Wins, expressed immense joy upon learning of Alicia’s pregnancy. Despite initial concerns about infertility, the couple’s journey to parenthood brought overwhelming happiness and relief.
The couple’s experience shed light on the surprising link between overtraining at the gym and fertility issues, underscoring the importance of balance and awareness in maintaining reproductive health.
