The Hamilton Hammers’ upcoming inaugural season single-game tickets will be released for public purchase this Friday morning. The American Hockey League’s newly established team announced in a press release on Tuesday that ticket sales will commence on September 18 at 10 a.m., with prices beginning at $28, inclusive of fees and taxes. Subscribers to the TD Coliseum and Hamilton Hammers newsletter will have an exclusive presale opportunity starting at 10 a.m. the day before.
The team has planned to host 36 regular-season home games at TD Coliseum during this season. The season will kick off with the home opener against the Toronto Marlies on October 9, followed by another match against Toronto on October 11, marking the return of professional hockey to Hamilton.
Earlier this year, the AHL board of governors unanimously approved the relocation of the Bridgeport Islanders to Hamilton from Bridgeport, Connecticut, where they had been based since 2001. The team is now jointly owned by the Islanders and Oak View Group, with investors including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, a star from the Oklahoma City Thunder and a native of Hamilton who is the reigning NBA MVP.
The AHL consists of farm teams affiliated with NHL teams, serving as a developmental platform for player prospects. Hamilton’s own Matthew Schaefer, a rising star, recently clinched the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s top rookie, becoming the youngest player ever to receive the award.
Nicole Demers, the Hammers’ head of business operations, expressed excitement in the release, stating, “Hamilton is ready for this moment, and we’re thrilled to involve fans in this historic season.”
The Hammers will start their regular season away on October 2 against the Belleville Senators before heading to Toronto for a game against the Marlies on October 3. Additionally, a preseason matchup against Toronto is scheduled for September 27.
Alongside the Hammers, another professional hockey team will debut at TD Coliseum this fall. The Provincial Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) team, featuring players like Alexa Vasko from St. Catharines, Ontario, and Kayla Vespa from Hamilton, will also commence play.
